Wedding Competition: Relive Your Special Day!

Did you say "I do" onboard the iconic HMS Warrior? We want to hear all about your magical day!

Part One: Share Your Story

Why did you choose HMS Warrior as your wedding venue? Was it the timeless charm, the stunning views, or something special that drew you to our historic ship? Share your favourite photo from that unforgettable day and tell us your story! 

We’re inviting ten lucky couples back onboard for a fabulous drinks and canapé reception on Friday 6th September 2024, from 6pm to 8pm. Wander the decks, soak in the memories, and enjoy a magical evening. 

Special Keepsake

Our talented photographer, Claire Kelson, will be there to capture the moment all over again. Each couple will have a few moments with Claire to recreate their favourite wedding photos onboard. You'll receive a beautiful digital copy of your favourite recreated photo to print and cherish as a brand-new keepsake. 

Here’s how it works:

Share your story and photo: First fill out our form to share your story. Then head to our Facebook or Instagram advert and post your favourite HMS Warrior wedding photo in the comments. Alternatively, you can email your photo direct to us via specialevents@nmrn.org.uk 

Narrowing Down the Couples: The National Museum of the Royal Navy will shortlist ten couples to attend the Drinks Reception onboard HMS Warrior. If you're lucky to be shortlisted, we will contact you via email with your exclusive invitation to the drinks and canapé reception on Friday 6th September 2024, from 6pm to 8pm

Attend the event: Climb aboard HMS Warrior and enjoy an evening reminiscing the night away. Our team will be on hand to welcome you along with our expert caterer to serve delicious canapés, live music and of course, our photographer. From those 10 couples invited, we will announce which three have been shortlisted for part two of the competition outlined below.

How to Enter Part One

Simply share your story and photo with us to enter the competition to be invited to the canapé reception. We can’t wait to hear about your special moments. Entries close at midnight on Sunday 18th August 2024, and winners will be announced via email on Monday 19th August 2024.

Part Two: Win a Night’s Stay and More! 

Out of the ten lucky couples, one will win:

  • A Dinner, Night’s Stay, and Breakfast at the Keppel's Head Hotel
    Perfectly located just outside the Dockyard, the recently refurbished Keppel's Head Hotel, which offers 30 ensuite rooms, some with views of Portsmouth Harbour and HMS Warrior. In addition, enjoy dinner in their beautiful Georgian dining room, where you can relax and reminisce your special day over delicious food.
  • A Couples Ultimate Explorer Ticket for Portsmouth Historic Dockyard
    This ticket provides access to explore HMS Warrior so you can explore at your own leisure. In addition, the Ultimate Explorer ticket gets you access to all the attractions at the Dockyard including; HMS Victory, the Mary Rose Museum, and our Waterbus service to the Explosion Museum and Submarine Museum in Gosport. 
  • Afternoon Tea in Captain's Cabin
    Make the most of your experience at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard with an exclusive couple's afternoon tea onboard HMS Warrior in the Captain's Cabin.

Here’s how it works:

Narrowing Down the Couples: The National Museum of the Royal Navy will shortlist three couples out of the ten. The three shortlisted couples will be informed during the Drinks Reception onboard HMS Warrior.

Wedding Story and Photo Contest: If you’re one of the three couples to be shortlisted, we will post your comparison wedding photos along with your wedding story on our social media channels.

Engagement Challenge: Share your post far and wide! The couple with the most likes, shares, and engagement on social media will win the hotel stay, Dockyard tickets and afternoon tea grand prize. 

 

How to Win the Part Two Prize 

From the ten couples, we will announce during the drinks reception on Friday 6th September the three shortlisted couples who are in win a chance of winning part two of the competition. If you’re one of the three couples to be shortlisted, we will post your comparison wedding photos along with your wedding story on our social media channels after the event on 6th September.

The three couples will shortlisted based on two categories:

  1. The best recreated image side by side.
  2. The best wedding story/how you met story.

The couple with the most social media engagement will win an overnight stay at Keppel's Head Hotel, a couples Ultimate Explorer ticket at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and afternoon tea in Captain's Cabin. We aim for these to go live by Friday 13th September and the competition will run for three weeks and close at midnight on Thursday 3rd October 2024. The winners will be announced on Friday 4th October 2024. The prize must be redeemed within six months of being issued.

Terms and Conditions

Couples must have previously had their wedding day onboard HMS Warrior. This could either be a ceremony only, wedding reception only or full wedding. 

By entering our competition, you are agreeing for us to use your submitted images plus any taken during the 6th September along with your wedding story for marketing purposes which includes, but isn't limited to, our website, social media channels, and external wedding publications. For the lucky couple who win part two of the competition, photos will be taken of the afternoon tea in Captain's Cabin as well.

Click the button to enter the competition. We ask for you to fill in a few details and answer some questions. Then you must either comment your favourite wedding photo on our social media channels, or alternatively you can email your photo to specialevents@nmrn.org.uk 

You must enter part open first, and then based on your photo and story submitted, the National Museum of the Royal Navy will narrow the list down to ten couples for the drink reception on Friday 6th September. During the drinks reception, the shortlisted three couples will be informed on the night. 

The three shortlisted couples will have their wedding story plus their submitted photo posted alongside the newly recreated photo taken on 6th September onto our social media channels. The couple with the most likes, shares and comments will win part two and be notified via email.

Each couple will be allocated approximately 5 minutes each with Claire who will aim to recapture your submitted favourite wedding photo. 

For part one, you will be emailed an exclusive invitation to attend the drinks reception on HMS Warrior on 6th September 2024. You will need to RSVP to confirm your attendance.

For part two, we will contact the winning couple with details on how to redeem the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard tickets as well as booking in the afternoon tea and Keppels Head stay. You will need to redeem you prize within 6 months of winning.
