HMS Warrior Wedding Competition Final 3

We are thrilled to announce the three couples who have made it to the final stage of our HMS Warrior wedding competition!

This unique contest was created to celebrate the timeless love stories that have taken place onboard HMS Warrior, offering couples the chance to relive their magical day on this historic ship. After receiving numerous heartfelt entries, seven couples were invited to an exclusive event onboard HMS Warrior on Sunday 13th October. 

The event provided a special opportunity for these couples to revisit the ship where they said "I do" and celebrate their journeys together. During the day, couples had the chance to recreate their wedding photos with Scott Howard Photography, reminisce while listening to their wedding songs performed by harpist Fran Barsby, mingle with other couples, and share the standout moments that made their wedding onboard HMS Warrior so unforgettable. 

Following the event, we carefully shortlisted three couples who will now go head-to-head to win the coveted grand prize: the ‘Perfect Portsmouth Getaway.’ This incredible prize includes:

A whirlwind romance between two teachers led to an unforgettable April Fool’s Day proposal. Their August 2007 wedding on HMS Warrior honoured their deep military family ties, made extra special by photos taken in the ship’s rigging with all five of their children.

We have very proud family connections to the Royal Navy and military. The ship was a poignant part of our day - lending us an intimate venue and atmosphere for the ceremony and incredible photo opportunities including climbing the rig for photos with our 5 children. Having a moment to catch our breath and have a glass of bubbly in the Captain's cabin was a very special moment too

John & Alice

Their love story, rooted in a shared passion for amateur dramatics, culminated in a creative proposal during a birthday weekend card game. Their April 2022 wedding aboard HMS Warrior included a surprise flash mob of “One Day More” from Les Misérables. Now expecting their second child, their recreated wedding photos turned into a heartwarming maternity shoot.

We were brainstorming where we could have our wedding and I joked that it could be on HMS Warrior. I love the dockyards and it’s always been a massive childhood place for me. Johnny said I wonder if you can get married on board. Once we looked into it, it became apparent that it’s possible so from that moment our mind was made up! Best decision ever

Ben & Chloe

Both junior doctors, they met at Southsea Castle and shared a deep connection with HMS Warrior, visible from their first flat together. Ben’s sunset proposal almost didn’t happen as Chloe was too busy chatting with friends! Their June 2024 wedding was a celebration of their shared history, made even more special by the warm reception from loved ones and tourists alike as they arrived at the dockyard. 

Our first flat together was across the road from the dockyard and we had a roof terrace that overlooked the Warrior so it was our view every day when we started the next stage of our life together. We chose HMS Warrior as we wanted a venue that we would be able to wander past and reminisce about our wedding in years to come and also a place that meant something to us both.
