Step aboard HMS Caroline this summer and dive into a hands-on journey through Belfast's traditional heritage skills, designed especially for curious, creative minds. 

This vibrant programme invites families to explore the craftsmanship that powered the ship's story. Get tactile with rope making, discovering how essential cordage kept ships operational at sea, and experimenting with weaving and spinning, linking Belfast's rich textile heritage to life onboard. Budding builders can explore the skills behind constructing and maintaining a historic warship, while creative activities encourage participants to make, and express their own interpretations of maritime life. Blending making, storytelling and exploration this programme brings HMS Caroline's past to life in imaginative, engaging ways.

This will run over three dates:

  • 24-25 July will feature weaving and rope making sessions.
  • 31 July-1 August which will feature riveting workshops by Theatre Space North East England 
  • 6-7 August which will feature activities and workshops about shipbuilding by Sentinus

For younger children there will also be our HMS Caroline Pioneers trail available to take part in every day. 

These events are free with a valid museum ticket.
