Set Sail For Story Time

After a mighty storm has swept across the harbour, Captain Compass discovers something unexpected washed up on the shore. Unsure what to do next, he turns to Eddison, Ratty and a crew of caring young explorers for help. Together, they must decide how best to care for a creature in need while learning that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a world of difference.

Inspired by The Storm Whale, this beautiful storytelling adventure explores friendship, empathy and our relationship with the natural world. Through gentle audience participation, imaginative play and thoughtful discussion, children will discover the importance of caring for wildlife and protecting the oceans that connect us all.

The sea has always been at the heart of the Royal Navy's story, and with that comes a responsibility to understand and care for the marine environment. From observing whales and other marine life during long voyages to supporting modern efforts to protect our oceans, this session encourages children to appreciate the incredible biodiversity that surrounds our coasts and seas.

Supporting the National Year of Reading "Go All In" campaign, this much-loved story encourages families to share books that inspire empathy, curiosity and a lifelong love of nature.

The journey doesn't end there, as families are invited to continue their adventure at the Learning Centre in the Victory Gallery, where hands-on activities bring each story's ideas to life through real experimentation and discovery. Created through a partnership between Royal Navy Museums and TYC Arts & Education CIC, the project brings together heritage and creative education to spark STEM curiosity in young audiences.
