Set Sail For Story Time

Something very strange has happened aboard HMS Warrior, and despite all his best ideas, Captain Compass simply can't explain it. Thankfully, Eddison has an idea—it's time to think like a scientist! Together with the audience, the crew will investigate clues, make careful observations, test different theories and discover that every question brings them one step closer to finding an answer.

Inspired by Ada Twist, Scientist, this energetic storytelling adventure celebrates curiosity, perseverance and the excitement of scientific discovery. Through playful experiments, audience participation and imaginative challenges, children will discover that science isn't about getting everything right first time—it's about wondering "why?", testing ideas and learning from what happens next.

Innovation, experimentation and problem-solving have always played an important role throughout Royal Navy history, helping engineers, navigators and inventors develop the technology that keeps ships and crews safe at sea. This session encourages young audiences to see themselves as the next generation of curious thinkers and creative problem-solvers.

Supporting the National Year of Reading "Go All In" campaign, the session combines inspiring storytelling with hands-on STEM learning to encourage a lifelong love of reading and discovery.

The journey doesn't end there, as families are invited to continue their adventure at the Learning Centre in the Victory Gallery, where hands-on activities bring each story's ideas to life through real experimentation and discovery. Created through a partnership between Royal Navy Museums and TYC Arts & Education CIC, the project brings together heritage and creative education to spark STEM curiosity in young audiences.
